Edwina last spoke on the Inner North wetlands in late 2012 and will provide an update on their progress – what has worked well and what requires improvement.  She will discuss the wildlife corridor rehabilitation at The Valley Ponds, Gungahlin; flow monitoring and trash rack improvements for the Lyneham Wetland and plans to vegetate the spillway with low native riparian species; Gambusia (mosquito fish – a feral) populations at the wetlands and control methods and the bird brochure that the Dickson Wetland Carer group are preparing.  She will also discuss preliminary studies on potential wetlands on Ginninderra Creek, in Weston Creek and in Tuggeranong.

Edwina Robinson has worked with the ACT Government as the Urban Waterways Coordinator since 2009.  Since then she has been involved in the design, construction and planting of the Banksia Street, O’Connor Wetland and community engagement for the Dickson and Lyneham wetlands.  She is currently managing the construction of The Valley Ponds, Gungahlin – three interconnected wetlands on a tributary of Ginninderra Creek.  Edwina studied Landscape Architecture and Ecology at the University of Canberra and is passionate about creating public landscapes that improve the local environment and enhance the experiences of residents.
