Summer Sounds concert – Bewitched with Jumptown Swing

You are here

Saturday, 2 February 2019 - 5:00pm to 8:00pm

The ever-popular Summer Sounds concerts will be held again on the first two weekends in February 2019.

Program for Saturday 2 February:   Bewitched with Jumptown Swing

Bewitched bring you the class, elegance, and sophistication of the 1940s and 50s. This 10 piece ensemble is the only combo in Canberra who can give you the music of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin and everything in-between. Fronted by one of Canberra's hottest jazz singers, Melody will take you on a trip to the bright lights of the Vegas strip and into the smoky clubs of the City of Angels. Whether you want to swing dance, singalong with your family or schmooze up to your lover, you're in for a fine night of fun and frivolity. Think La-La Land, but in Canberra.

Bewitched will team up with Canberra Swing Dance Troup, Jumptown Swing, for a show and dance class not to be missed. Jumptown Swing is a not-for-profit organisation who have inspired and taught hundreds of students to swing dance in Canberra for more than 10 years. They run fun, friendly and beginner swing dance classes. Swing dancing is a great way to meet new people and keep fit.

Concerts are held on the Eucalypt Lawn at the Gardens in Clunies Ross Street, Acton, on the lower slopes of Black Mountain. Entertainment starts at 5.00 pm, with the concert performances starting at 6pm and finishing at 7.30.

A complimentary assistance vehicle will operate from the car park areas to the Eucalypt Lawn. This service will operate both ways from 4:30 pm and concludes at 8.00 pm.

Bring a picnic or enjoy food and drinks for sale on site.

Volunteers needed

Volunteering at the summer concerts is a good way to meet other Friends. We need your help, collecting entry donations, supervising parking and transport for disabled patrons, driving the electric vehicles up to the Eucalypt Lawn, and answering queries at the Information Tent.  More information about volunteering at the concerts can be found here.
