Biography

After careers in teaching and the civil service, working in various countries in the Pacific and Africa, Sharon Field embarked on a new career as a botanical artist in 2008.  Today, she combines painting with her role as Captain of a volunteer fire fighting brigade with the Rural Fire Service in NSW and as a volunteer guide with the National Gallery of Australia.

She has held a number of highly successful solo and joint exhibitions, and has participated in many group exhibitions in Australia, England and the United States.  It was the American Society of Botanical Artists that provided her with a grant to fund her work on dieback on the Monaro, which she presented to the Society at its annual conference in Missouri, last year.
