Glenn, a volunteer curator at the Australian National Insect Collection, will discuss the moth fauna of Black Mountain in the context of some general observations about moths, and how to understand the families present in the ACT, and tell some stories about an eclectic selection of particular species from wider afield.

Abstract

With the location of the Australian National Insect Collection nearby the Australian National Botanic Gardens at the foot of Black Mountain, the mountain has been well visited by moth enthusiasts over the years. Glenn will discuss the moth fauna of the mountain in the context of some general observations about moths, including how to go about understanding the families present in the ACT.  He will also tell some stories about an eclectic selection of particular species from wider afield.
