The Gardens have fully reopened after the hailstorm

All areas of the Gardens have now been reopened after significant damage was caused by the Canberra hailstorm on Monday 20 January.

Visitors are now welcome to explore the Gardens from Rainforest to Red Centre. Pollen Café, Jindii Eco Spa and the Botanical Bookshop are also open.

Guided walks have resumed, but Flora Explorer tours will remain out of operation until further notice. Venues in the Banks Building will also stay closed until repairs can be completed.

Over the coming weeks, Gardens staff will continue the cleaning-up of the damage the storm had caused. Our precious living collection will be restored to its full splendour in the coming months.

Visitors’ safety is the Gardens' highest priority, and a huge effort has gone into removing all hazards. Pathways have been cleared and are now accessible to all visitors including motorised scooters, prams and wheelchairs.
