Ancient Plants and Animals - free guided walks

You are here

Monday, 12 July 2021 - 11:00am to Sunday, 18 July 2021 - 2:00pm

Each month for the rest of this year, the Volunteer Guides will be dedicating a week to special themes. As well as their regular morning walks, they will conduct additional afternoon walks during the theme week. These walks will all be free.

The theme for July is 'Ancient Plants and Animals', complementing the Megafauna that will be on display.

A volunteer guide will take you to discover plants in the Gardens reaching back in time as far as the dinosaurs of the Jurassic and the megafauna of the Pleistocene era. Complementing the megafauna on display, the walks will explore aspects such as:

  • what the environment was like in ancient times
  • how changes in land masses and sea levels impacted the environment
  • what prehistoric animals ate them, how they ate them (and how we know that!)

Daily from Monday July 12th to Sunday July 18th, at 11am-12 noon and 2pm-3pm.

Meet at the clock near the bridge. No booking required.
