SUMMARY:Photographic Group September Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The next regular meeting of the Photographic Group takes place on Friday 25 September at 10.00am in the Theatrette. \nThe guest presenter will be Dr Veronica Briceno Rodriguez. Veronica is the Conservation Horticulture Manager at the Gardens and leads the development of the ANBG Threatened Species Conservation Framework. She also oversees the Living Collection Strategy. \nThe title of her presentation is “Holistic conservation at the Australian National Botanic Gardens”. \nThis presentation highlights the Australian National Botanic Gardens’ approach to conservation\, drawing on its living collections\, horticultural expertise\, and close collaboration with the National Seed Bank and threatened species officers. \nOur regular show and tell session will also take place. Bring up to six images on a thumb drive to share with fellow PG members. Short videos can be shown also.

SUMMARY:The Friends' 38th Annual General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:All members are cordially invited to attend the 38th Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the ANBG on Thursday 15 October at 3pm in the Gardens’ Theatrette. For catering purposes please register your attendance. Apologies can also be sent – see below. \nWhen: Thursday 15 October\, 2.45 pm for 3 pm start\nWhere: ANBG Theatrette and refreshments afterwards in the Celia Rosser Room\, Banksia Centre. \nAttendance and Apologies for the AGM\nPlease register your attendance or apology by 9 October using this link https://fanbg.memberjungle.club/agm-attendance \nIf you have any questions about the AGM\, please contact the Secretary at secretary@friendsanbg.org.au. \nAGM tiny tours\nVolunteers will be available following the AGM to guide a tiny tour for members to view some new Friends’ funded projects nearby. They will also offer to assist members to the venue for the refreshments at the Celia Rosser Room at the Banksia Centre.  The tiny tours will include the Flora Explorer Custom Shelter\, the Growing Friends plant nursery and a demonstration of the new Projection microscope. The Student Photographic Exhibition will also be accessible in the Banksia Garden\, behind the Banksia Centre. Photographs and art works by members of the Photographic Groups and the Botanic Art Group will be on display. \nAGM Agenda\nOn the agenda will be the election for President\, Vice President and Secretary and one member of Council. If a current member of Council nominates for and is elected to another vacant position\, there will be an additional vacancy for an Ordinary Member. \nThe agenda will include reports from Dr Matthew Parker\, Director ANBG\, Science and ANBG\, Parks Australia; Linda Beveridge\, Friends President and Dr Rod King\, Friends Treasurer. \nThe Flora Explorer bus will be available for members requiring special assistance to reach the Celia Rosser Room in the Banksia Centre after the tours. \nAGM documents and information about how to nominate for the vacant positions are on the Friends’ website via this link https://friendsanbg.org.au/news/the-friends-38th-annual-general-meeting. \nNominations for Council vacancies\nCall for nominations for vacant positions on Council\nNominations are being sought for President\, Vice President\, Secretary and one ordinary member of Council. The term of office for these positions is from November 2026 to October 2028. \nAre you a scientist\, a chartered accountant\, a bookkeeper or an IT specialist with a love for the ANBG? Do you have other skills and experience that might be helpful for the Council of the Friends of the ANBG?
