Weekend evening concerts in the Botanic Gardens have been a feature of summer in Canberra for many years. This year we, the Friends and the Gardens, staged eight very successful concerts. There was a little more singing in the rain than we might have wanted, but everyone had a great time.

This year our major sponsor was The Central by Goodwin Homes. ACTEW Water was also a very valued sponsor. Our media partners were the Canberra Times, 2CC and 1053 2CA.

Each concert costs around $4000 to produce: for bands, sound system, advertising and publicity and staff overtime. This cost is met by entry fees, concession sales, drink sales by the Friends and sponsorship. This year, thanks to our very generous sponsors and good audience numbers, we covered our costs and will have a modest profit to use to support the Botanic Gardens.

The Friends Council would like to thank most warmly all who have been involved his year in running the concerts - the staff of the Gardens, the many Friends who have volunteered in all kinds of ways, our wonderful sponsors and our appreciative and generous audiences.
