SUMMARY:Bug Hunt on Black Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Bugs In My Backyard Week is coming up from 16-22 November. \nBug Hunt on Black Mountain\n9:30am to 11:00am Sunday 22 November 2026 \nThe national springtime snapshot of bugs is 16-22 November 2026. Led by the Invasive Species Council and Invertebrates Australia\, this national citizen science initiative encourages communities to record local invertebrates using iNaturalist. Let’s hunt for bugs on Black Mountain as part of this national program with Kim Pullen\, who is involved with the Australian National Insect Collection. \nWill we see ants\, beetles\, butterflies\, spiders\, wasps or other bugs? Will we upload snapshots of the insects onto iNaturalist? \nGenerally easy ramble with some steep sections. \nFurther information about the Bug Hunt is at  BUGS IN MY BACKYARD WEEK – Bug Hunt \nCopies of “Ants of Canberra” (a foldout leaflet) priced at $2\, will be for sale. \nMeet: GDE Memorial car park / Old Caswell Drive car park\, Caswell Drive\, Aranda\, tucked between Caswell Drive and Old Caswell Drive. (Signposted to Black Mountain Nature Reserve car park off William Hovell Drive / Caswell Drive heading toward the city). \n \nBring: Phone camera\, magnifying lens if you wish\, binoculars if you wish\, water.\nWear: Sunscreen\, walking clothes\, hat and stout shoes. \nBooking essential:\nBooking link: https://www.trybooking.com/DRHHP\nIt helps us to let you know if arrangements need to change (e.g. because of inclement weather). \nLinda Beveridge\nConvenor\, Friends of Black Mountain
