Haig Park is a significant landscape feature in Canberra:  its early plantings were designed for protection against winds and climactic extremes, and landscape beautification of the emerging city.  Designed by Charles Weston, its parallel rows of trees are unique in Australian park design.

Eric Martin AM is the current President of the National Trust of Australia (ACT), and has practised architecture since 1973 in Government and private practice. He has received recognition for his expertise in heritage, architectural conservation, and disability access. Over the last two years Eric Martin Associates (with input from Jamie Dawson of Envirolinks Design) has prepared a Conservation and Management Plan for Haig Park.
