The 9th Annual Art in the Gardens with Friends Exhibition

The official opening of the 2016 Art in the Gardens with Friends Exhibition will take place in the Visitor Centre on Friday 19 March, at 5:30pm for 6:00pm.

From 1:00pm to 4:30pm on Friday 19 March there will be a special preview of the Exhibition for Friends of the ANBG.

The exhibition will be open to the general public from Saturday 20 March until Sunday 17 April.  All of the art works exhibited will portray native Australian plants many of which can be found in the ANBG Gardens.  The annual exhibition is an opportunity for the Botanic Art Groups to assist in educating and engaging the broader community as well as overseas visitors to gain an appreciation of Australian Native plants.

Some of the Botanic Art Groups members are well known artists whose work is held in national and international collections.  Most of the art works will be for sale and a percentage of all Exhibition sales will go to support Friends’ activities.

Each day a member from one of the Botanic Art Groups will be available in the Visitor Centre to answer any questions you may have about the Botanic Art Groups or about the art works.  As well as the art works there will also be a selection of cards and bookmarks for sale and a fund raising raffle.  The promotional material this year depicts paintings by Cornelia Buchen-Osmon, Kristen O’Keefe and Katrine Scott-Findlay.  These paintings will be in the Exhibition.

As part of the celebrations for National Eucalypt Day the Botanic Art Groups will hold a special exhibition of Eucalypt works in the foyer of the Visitor Centre over the period 23 March to 31 March.  These works will primarily be unframed paintings and canvasses and a great additional opportunity to buy an art work to support the Friends of the ANBG.
