Lydia, Seed Conservation Biologist and Manager of the National Seed Bank, will speak on the conservation of endangered alpine bogs and fens, and share new results on research into seed dormancy and germination of bog and fen plants, highlighting the important role seeds play in ensuring the persistence of these communities.         

Abstract

Lydia will introduce us to the conservation of endangered alpine bogs and fens. She will share new results of the National Seed Bank’s research into seed dormancy and germination of bog and fen plants. This research highlights the important role seeds play in ensuring persistence of bog and fen plant communities.

Biography

Dr Lydia Guja:  Lydia is the Seed Conservation Biologist and Manager of the National Seed Bank in the Biodiversity Science Section at the ANBG and Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research. She studies the ecology, biology, physiology and conservation of native plant seeds.
