Volunteer Visitor Information Review Workshop

Friends of the Gardens are invited to a workshop to review the Volunteer Visitor Information Program

Background

In June 2013 a Volunteer Visitor Information Program was introduced to provide visitor services in the Visitor Information Centre between 10am and 3pm each week day. Volunteers were drawn from the Friends of the Gardens.

The Volunteer Visitor Information Program was introduced with the aim to improve and expand the customer service provided to visitors to the Visitor Information Centre.

A review of the Volunteer Visitor Information Program is to be undertaken to evaluate the program in meeting the diverse needs and expectations of both visitors to the Gardens and stakeholders using the Visitor Information Centre.

Objectives

The review will focus on the current operation and visitor services provided by the Volunteer Visitor Information Program, and engagement by other stakeholders using the Visitor Information Centre.

Methodology

The approach adopted for this review will include consultation with key stakeholders via workshops, interviews and written responses.

Consultation with Friends of the Gardens

Members of the Friends, including volunteer guides, liaise with Gardens staff through the Visitor Information Centre. With the introduction of the Volunteer Visitor Information Program, Gardens staff are no longer front-of-house during opening hours.

A workshop with Friends of the Gardens to discuss the current operation of the Volunteer Visitor Information Program will be held:

 Tuesday 18 March 2014
 2.30 – 3.30pm (after Guides meeting)
 Crosbie Morrison Building

• Interaction with Gardens staff through the Visitor Information Centre. How have you interacted with staff in the Visitor Information Centre prior to introduction of the volunteer program, has this changed as result of volunteer program, and how?
• Interaction with volunteers in the Visitor Information Centre. Have you interacted with volunteers in the Visitor Information Centre, what has been your experience?
• Operation of Volunteer Visitor Information Program and visitor experience in the Visitor Information Centre.
