Photographic Group

You are here

If you enjoy taking photographs and are a Friend of the ANBG, you might like to join the Friends photographic special interest group.

The Friends Photographic Group aims to bring together people interested in photography of natural phenomena, to share their experiences and:

  • update photographers' skills by monthly lectures, workshops or outings
  • hold regular show & tell opportunities
  • contribute to the ANBG's overall stock of native flora photographs
  • improve community awareness of native flora and fauna
  • be actively involved in photographing important events in the Gardens
  • contribute to the Friends fund-raising.

The group has become a haven for many photographers, with membership increasing on a monthly basis.

Annual exhibition

The Photographic Group holds annual exhibitions of members' work in the Visitors Information Centre gallery.

Monthly meetings

The Photographic Group currently meets on the last Friday of each month at the ANBG (10:00am in the Theatrette, unless otherwise advised. See the Calendar for details).

Meetings usually involve at least one presentation on an aspect of photography; the screening of some Group photographs with accompanying commentary (including gentle feedback); a workshop on a topic of interest; and excursions including sessions in the Gardens with cameras at the ready. Speakers may come from within the Group or externally.

All members of the Friends are welcome to come along. The members have a range of skill sets and cameras, from digital ‘point and click’ cameras to more complex SLRs. If you would like to attend, just turn up or contact a committee member.
