Since retiring from ACT Government Don has investigated the ACT’s two goanna species, one of which is probably almost extinct here and the other rare, with guidance from leading goanna researcher Brian Green and other experts.  This talk will reveal what a research team funded and run by local volunteers, with in-kind support from ACT Government, has been attempting to learn about the goannas of Namadgi National Park.

Don Fletcher worked in various roles as a land manager before commencing his apprenticeship in ecology which is still ongoing.  His PhD was on ‘Population Dynamics of Eastern Grey Kangaroos’ but less obvious fauna also capture his fascination such as Eastern Bettongs and Eastern Quolls which he helped bring back to the ACT at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary
