Dr Pep Canadell ‘Climate change: tales of the future today'

Australia has seen unprecedented impacts of climate change over recent years associated with climate extreme events superimposed on an always increasing warming trend. Pep will discuss some of the impacts, what makes them unprecedented, and their future evolution. He will also discuss current and emerging opportunities for mitigating climate change and to reach stabilization of the climate system.

Biography

Pep Canadell is Principal Senior Scientist in the CSIRO Climate Science Centre (O&A) and Executive Director of the Global Carbon Project, a global consortium of scientists, who study global emissions of greenhouse gases, removal by the vegetation and oceans, and the associated climate change.  Pep is a regular contributor to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and his expertise extends into the areas of earth system science, global ecology, and carbon-policy interface.  For outreach articles see https://goo.gl/vnYD7X.  Pep is a fellow of the American Geophysical Union.
