In this talk Rosemary, Honorary Living Collections Botanist ANBG, will briefly explore history and features of Persian Garden concept, then walk us through four World Heritage listed gardens in Iran.

Many FANBG members are probably familiar with the term Persian Gardens, but what does it mean? In this talk Rosemary will briefly explore their history and defining features, then walk us through four World Heritage listed gardens to show what they are like and how the Persian Garden concept is reflected in other places in Iran.

Dr Rosemary Purdie is the Honorary Living Collections Botanist at the Australian National Botanic Gardens and an Honorary Associate of the Australian National Herbarium. Since retiring she has travelled extensively in Central Asia and Iran, soaking up and marvelling at their natural and cultural features and history.

Lunchtime talks are held at 12.30 pm every Thursday from February to November.  Talks last for 1 hour.  We welcome a gold coins donation. The Friends use donations received at each talk to support Gardens’ programs and development and thank all those who have donated.  Please note: unless otherwise indicated, talks are in the ANBG Theatrette.

Bookings are a good idea in order to reserve a seat at the talks you wish to attend; some talks book out very quickly.  Bookings can be made from the Friday before the talk until Wednesday night before the talk or until seating limits are reached.
