Mel, from ACT Government’s Conservation Research, will focus on urban habitat connectivity, and government initiative to incorporate biodiversity considerations more fully into our planning system.

Abstract
This talks presents outcomes and updates from an ACT Government project focused on urban habitat and connectivity – mapping key areas for protection and restoration to enable our ecosystems and species to survive, and introduces a new government initiative to incorporate biodiversity considerations more fully into our planning system.

Biography
Dr Melissa Snape is Senior Ecologist – Urban Biodiversity with EPSDD Conservation Research, ACT Government.

Mel has a long history of work on the ecology and management of the ACT’s grasslands, with particular focus on the impacts of herbivory, but has recently led the development of a new initiative on urban biodiversity in the ACT.

Lunchtime talks are held at 12.30 pm every Thursday from February to November.  Talks last for 1 hour.  We welcome a gold coins donation. The Friends use donations received at each talk to support Gardens’ programs and development and thank all those who have donated.  Please note: unless otherwise indicated, talks are in the ANBG Theatrette.

It is a good idea to reserve a seat at the talks you wish to attend; some talks book out very quickly.  Bookings can be made from the Friday before the talk until Wednesday night before the talk or until seating limits are reached.
