Dr Michael Jones: 'The Cotter heritage history'

Michael will discuss his 2011 book on the historical setting of the Cotter, Canberra’s most precious water catchment area. The book was commissioned by ACTEW, ActewAGL and the Bulk Water Alliance partners to document the history of the Cotter area while work was underway to enlarge the Cotter Dam.

Dr Michael Jones has lived in Canberra since 1996.  He has a PhD in Urban Research from the Australian National University (1971) and is the author of eight local histories, two on the Gold Coast (one entitled A Sunny Place for Shady People), Redcliffe, Knox, Whittlesea, Frankston, North Sydney and Strathfield. He also wrote nine other books on social welfare and local government. Michael was an academic at the University of Canberra for 30 years.
