Darren, an Environmental Project Officer with the ACT Parks and Conservation Service, will argue from recent urban ecology research for new and new and exciting restoration and conservation strategies for cities.

Darren Le Roux is an Environmental Project Officer, ACT Parks and Conservation Service, whose research and work experience to date has had a strong focus on wildlife conservation and biodiversity monitoring in human dominated landscapes.

Never before have our cities been so important for biodiversity. I will discuss some of the inherent challenges of urbanisation, including reviewing major threatening processes, as well as exploring new and exciting restoration and conservation strategies for human-dominated urban landscapes. I will draw on recent urban ecology research, with a focus on cutting edge field experiments being trialled right here in Canberra.
