The 36th Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the ANBG was held in the ANBG Theatrette on Thursday 24th October 2024.

Business of the meeting

  • Presentation and acceptance of the President's and Treasurer's Reports (see links to meeting papers below);
  • A presentation by Dr Rebecca Pirzl, Branch Head Science and the ANBG, Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water, on significant development and events over the previous 12 months;
  • Election of new Council members -
President: Linda Beveridge
Vice-President: Alan Henderson
General Members: Chris Mackay, Cathy Robertson, Ian Primrose

 
There were no nominations for the position of Secretary, nor for the fourth General Member vacancy.

Continuing members of Council (halfway through their two-year terms) are Rod King as Treasurer, and Beth Tyerman and Kerry Muir as General Members. Retiring members of the previous Council are Neville Page, Christianna Cobbold, Marg Nicholls, and Masumi Robertson.

  • The special resolution to amend the Friends Constitution, which was passed unanimously;
  • The AAFBG's Handbury Award for distinguished contribution by an individual was awarded to Glenys Bishop by Dr Judy West, patron of the Australasian Association of Friends of Botanic Gardens (AAFBG) and former Executive Director of the ANBG;
  • Life Memberships of the Friends of the ANBG were awarded to Wendy Antoniak and to Jim Gould, particularly for their contributions as members of the Botanic Art Group and Photography Group respectively.
