Thank you to our wonderful weeding work party last month who removed more than 960 weeds, particularly Billardiera heterophylla and Acacia baileyana as well as 4 other species of weeds during the work party.

Please note that the meeting point is the lower gate, at the end of the bottom row of the Southern car park, of the Australian National Botanic Gardens. We shall walk up from there towards the water tank and provide ferry cars if needed.

If coming from the north (red arrows on first map [link unavailable]):
1. Drive south down Bindubi Street
2. Turn left into William Hovell Drive, staying in the left hand lane
3. Turn first left at the sign to the Black Mountain Reserve car park (the road also leads to the entrance to the Aranda Snow Gums area)
4. Drive to the end of the road, follow it around to the right into the Rani Road car park, and park at the southern end (see map on next page)
If coming from the south (yellow arrows on first map [link unavailable]):
1. Turn left off Tuggeranong Parkway towards westward lanes of William Hovell Drive
2. Turn right at the sign to the Black Mountain Reserve car park; this takes you into the eastward bound lanes of William Hovell Drive; get into the left hand lane
3. Turn left at the sign to the Black Mountain Reserve car park (the road also leads to the entrance to the Aranda Snow Gums area)
4. Drive to the end of the road, follow it around to the right into the Rani Road car park, and park at the southern end (see map on next page)

Removing woody weeds from Black Mountain and ANBG annexes
Meet: Caswell Drive Car Park, Black Mountain. The car park is on the south west side of Black Mountain Nature Reserve. Drive southward from Belconnen Way towards the Glenloch Interchange, Woden or Tuggeranong. Look out for the balloons.

This is an activity of the Friends of Black Mountain.
This is an activity of the Friends of Black Mountain. The next weeding work party will focus on blackberry, sweet briar and hawthorn, all of which are covered in thorns or spines. Also many of the plants to be removed are less than 1 meter tall with slim stems. Could we ask that you bring gardening gloves (or similar) that will protect your hands, and your favourite secateurs.
