Life Membership
The Friends’ volunteers run many activities each year – for our members and the public. Others support the work of the Friends or assist with various programs across the Gardens.
Some of those volunteers contribute outstanding service over many years through, for example:
- participation on Council, sub-committees or special interest groups
- undertaking management and administrative work of the Friends
- partnership arrangements with the ANBG such as Guides Program
- increasing community awareness of the scientific, educational, conservation aesthetic and recreational function of the Gardens, and
- other activities that have advanced the ‘Purposes and Objectives’ of the Friends.
Friends Council recognises that commitment and invaluable support by awarding Life Membership.
Initially people associated with the establishment of the Gardens or the Friends were recognised. Life Membership has been conferred in most years to many dedicated Friends for their outstanding service across a variety of areas.
The award is usually conferred at an Annual General Meeting where the recipient is presented with a certificate.
This is the list of people awarded Life Membership over the years.
