This talk will discuss some of the programmes set up to rehabilitate peatlands after the fires of 2019/20, as well as the recovery of Sphagnum Shrub Bogs in the Alps more generally.

Abstract
Following the catastrophic fires which ravaged the Australian Alps in the summer of 2019/2020 various government agencies set up a number of programmes to assess and rehabilitate peatlands in the various jurisdictions that had been affected by the fires. This talk will discuss some of these programmes, as well as the recovery of Sphagnum Shrub Bogs in the Alps more generally.

One-hour talks are held at 12.30 pm every Thursday from February to November. We welcome donations by gold coins, notes, or electronically. The Friends use donations to support Gardens’ programs and development and thank all those who have donated.
