Event Description

Following his first Thursday Talk on the extraordinary natural history of his homeland, Venezuela, Francisco returns to the ANBG to speak on his current research which is using historic natural history specimens and field data to unravel the past structure of pollen transport networks in Kosciuszko National Park.  After matching the historic field data and plant specimens in the Australian National Herbarium, Francisco visits the areas where these specimens originated to find out how plant-pollinator communities have changed in the last decades.

Francisco majored in Ecology at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, followed by postgraduate studies and a PhD in the Netherlands.  He was then appointed a postdoctoral fellow at the CSIRO and since 2016 has worked as a CSIRO research scientist within the Australian National Herbarium and Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research.
