Duncan will provide a meandering exploration of the bird life in Canberra suburban gardens and the ANBG using the extensive records of the Canberra Garden Bird Survey and other records from Canberra Ornithologists Group.
Duncan has been a casual bird watcher since childhood and has become more serious since joining COG in 2009. He took over the role as coordinator of the Canberra Garden Bird Survey in 2012, after retiring from his day job as a computer programmer with the Australian Bureau of Statistics. He is the only person to have recorded an Osprey in their Canberra garden, and to have the first endorsed record of an Osprey in the ACT.
