TIME
1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
LOCATION
Umbagong Park, Lawson

Event Description

The next Plant Recognition Group workshop will be held jointly with Friends of Grasslands (FOG) and will be a visit to grasslands in Lawson. The visit will start at Umbagong Park where we will visit the beautiful Blue Devil Grassland; we will then proceed to Dawn Crescent grassland. If time permits, we can walk down to Ginninderra Lake’s nearby shoreline where there’s a newly discovered population of the endangered and ACT endemic Ginninderra Peppercress.

These visits will be led by Rainer Rehwinkel, an eminent grassland scientist, along with other members of FOG, Margaret Ning and Andrew Zelnik. FOG works to protect and ultimately recover grassy ecosystems, through building strong community understanding, skills, and support.

Hand lenses will be available but please bring your own if you have one.

When: Monday 19 October from 13.30 – 15.30.
Where: Please park outside the tennis courts at the corner of Moyes Cres with Southern Cross Drive in Holt.  Park along W side of Moyes and we will meet and walk to the grasslands.

Bookings ESSENTIAL: Please send your name and phone number to plantname@friendsanbg.org.au  We will be able to accommodate a slightly larger group for this visit but need to know who will be attending.

Please advise at least a day in advance if you need to cancel your booking, so that a member on the waiting list can be offered the place.
