Event Description

At the next Plant Recognition Group workshop, we will be learning about the tribe Gnaphalieae within the Asteraceae (daisy) family. This is a significant and diverse tribe which includes everlasting paper daisies such as Xerochrysum, Coronidium and Rhodanthe; simple button daisies like Leptorhynchos; compound button daisies like Craspedia; as well as Cassinia and other genera. The availability of specimens will determine the focus for the workshop.

The workshop will be led by Dr Alexander Schmidt-Lebuhn, Research Scientist with CSIRO, who will provide an overview of the Gnaphalieae and show selected specimens. Binocular microscopes and other aids for identification will be available for the workshop.

When: Thursday, 19 November, 1:30-3:30pm, with extra time to practice if you wish
Where: Solander Studio, Banksia Centre

RSVP: Bookings are essential. Please send your name and phone number to plantname@friendsanbg.org.au. We will be able to accommodate a slightly larger group for this visit but need to know who will be attending.
