Event Description

Spring is in the air and the wattles are beginning to display their beauty around Canberra. Come and join a Volunteer Guide on a Wattle Walk in the Gardens and hear about the symbolism and cultural history of this beautiful flower which is our national floral emblem.

Walks will start under the clock near the rainforest bridge. At this stage walk numbers will be limited to 2 family groups with a maximum of 10 people due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements.

The free guided walks at 11.00am each day for the first week in September (1st to 7th) will focus on wattles, which create such a wonderful splash of colour around Canberra in Spring. Find out how the wattles survive in Australia’s harsh climates and hear about the rich part they play in Australia’s cultural history.
