Student photo competition winners plant a native

Mako Takakusagi’s Year 6 classmates were on hand to watch her plant a Philotheca myoporoides ‘Winter Rouge’ at her school, Torrens Primary.

Mako won the Primary school Monochrome category in the 2025 Student Photo Competition. As well as a cash prize, first-prize winners received a native plant for their school or college. President Linda Beveridge also recently attended plantings at St Mary MacKillop College and Kinma School (NSW).

Autumn is a glorious time for student photographers to visit the Gardens and take a photo ready to enter the 2026 competition when it opens on 1 July.
