A new ‘Photographic Workshop’ to be held for all Friends of the ANBG. Get to know your Digital Camera better and take great photos. Run by the Friends of the ANBG Photographic Group - SOLD OUT.

Venue: Crosbie Morrison building

Details: Full day in two sessions: • Morning: classroom • Afternoon: practical application photographing around the Gardens.

Cost: $150.00 and must be a member of Friends of the ANBG.

Dr Lizzie Wandrag ‘The impact of bird loss on tropical forests: a case study from Guam’ Thursday, 17 May 2018 - 12:30pm

Lizzie will illustrate how the introduction of the brown tree snake has wiped out the entire avifauna of the Pacific island of Guam.  The talk will explore what this means for forests on the island and will compare what is happening on Guam with adjacent islands.

Meet: at the car park on the right about half or two-thirds the way up on Black Mountain Drive. It is near the start of the Forest Trail.  Look for balloons.

Wear:  hat, sunscreen, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, stout shoes.

Associate Professor Mark Lintermans ‘Stairway to heaven or highway to hell: the road for threatened freshwater fish recovery in Australia’ Thursday, 3 May 2018 - 12:30pm

A major focus of the talk will be the Murrumbidgee and Cotter Catchments and the suite of threatened fish species that live there including Macquarie Perch, Trout Cod, Two-spined Blackfish and Murray River Crayfish.

Bill Hall and David Cox will present a detailed review of Telephoto Photography, the techniques and equipment required to take that special photo with a particular focus on bird photography.

This meeting will be followed up by an early Saturday morning field excursion to Jerrabomberra Wetlands - meet at the main carpark on Dairy Rd at 7:30 am.
