Our Achievements

One of the major objectives of the Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens is to fund projects to support all aspects of the Gardens roles.  Since 1990 when the Friends formed, over $2 million has been spent on hundreds of projects across the following categories:

The Friends have initiated and will finance a specially commissioned treehouse to be built in the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Sitting among a stand of paperbark trees, ‘the treehouse and surrounding landscaping will create a wonderful nature play area for children and their families’, said Lesley Jackman, President of the Friends.

The design, by Sydney-based architecture and design company Cave Urban, is the winning entry in a national design competition conducted by the Friends and the Gardens. It uses recycled timber, some of which will be salvaged from the Gardens.
