Darren, an Environmental Project Officer with the ACT Parks and Conservation Service, will argue from recent urban ecology research for new and new and exciting restoration and conservation strategies for cities. Darren Le Roux is an Environmental Project Officer, ACT Parks and Conservation Service, whose research and work experience to date has had a strong focus on wildlife conservation and biodiversity monitoring in human dominated landscapes. |

Dan is a Visitor Services Ranger at the ANBG, whose talk will reveal his experiences of the Uluru Kata-Tjuta Park’s flora, fauna, and one of the world’s oldest living cultures still managing the land today. Dan Carmody has shown his enthusiasm for native plants and encouraging others to understand them for several years as a Visitor Services Ranger at the ANBG. He has spent several months at Uluru-Kata Yjuta National Park this year. |

Join us in an early celebration of the first anniversary of the opening of the Bushland Nature Trail. The trail is in the Bushland Precinct of the Gardens and is part of the local Black Mountain environment. Black Mountain is the most diverse nature reserve in Canberra with more than 650 species of plants. Stroll along this trail in the company of a guide and discover the plants flowering at this time of year and, at the same time, enjoy the spectacular views over Lake Burley Griffin. Our walk will end at the Lookout and then return back along the trail to the Visitor Centre. See full details... |

Butterflies have been described as an inexhaustible of spiritual and aesthetic delight. They have a practical value as well. We all love sunlight, and we owe many glorious and sweet-scented flowers, at least those of long tubular form, to the butterflies and moths that pollinate them. This is a wonderful opportunity to observe these elusive creatures in the Gardens. Join our local expert, Suzi Bond, to see and hear about butterflies and the plants they like. We shall be walking on the slopes of Black Mountain removing woody weeds in south/west area of Black Mountain Reserve. Meet: at the Caswell Drive car park on the mountain side of Caswell Drive. Drive FROM Belconnen Way southwards along Caswell Drive towards Glenloch Interchange, Woden, etc. Note the yellow diamond shape advisory sign showing access road on left, and the blue and white “P” sign for parking. Drive carefully into the carpark. Look for balloons. |
